Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life (20)

Title: Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life
Author: Barbara Kingsolver, Camille Kingsolver, Steven L. Hopp
Genre: Non-Fiction
Earlier in the year I read The Omnivore’s Dilemma and it had a great impact on me. I wanted this book to have an equally great impact on me and perhaps it will after I’ve processed it a bit more. It took me a very long time to read this book, that’s really rare for me. Normally I read books I’m enjoying quite quickly, I can’t wait to get back to the book, can wait to get to the next chapter. I enjoyed this book but I wasn’t compelled to hurry back to it. There were days and sometimes even weeks when I didn’t pick it up at all. So it’s fair to say I lingered over this book. That’s probably an appropriate way to read a book about local eating, growing food, conscious eating and the inherent joys and struggles that come with those things. I lingered and I’ve finished now but I think I need more time to think about it so my thoughts can settle and solidify.
